He added that "layoffs are in full swing" and that "many software engineers feel that their life's skill is no longer useful," producing what he called "a deep malaise about work (and its future)."

Why it resonated

The post landed during a stretch when the industry's contradictions are unusually visible. Cerebras' Nasdaq debut earlier in the week pushed another AI company into the public markets at a sharp premium, while Anthropic and OpenAI continue to attract record private rounds.
